Shedding blades were originally developed for the equestrian market for shedding loose and unwanted hair. It is especially useful for wire-haired dogs and some breeds with short smooth hair and a thick undercoat. The shedding blade should be drawn down the coat in the direction of the hair followed by a brush or hand groom. The stripping comb plucks out dead and unwanted hair keeping the coat to a uniform length.
